Darwin 200 Celebrations
2009 is the bicentenary of Charles Darwin's birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of On the Origin of Species.
Darwin 200 is a national programme of events throughout 2009 celebrating Charles Darwin's scientific ideas.
The Charles Darwin Trust is developing a number of separate programmes with different education organisations for launching during the bicentenary year:
- with English Heritage to develop their new Discovery Visits at Down House
- with IntoUniversity, primary and secondary programmes for schools helping children, students and teachers to learn the real skills of observation and enquiry
- with the National and Regional Science Learning Centres to contribute to their Darwin 200 special events and Darwin-Inspired Continuing Professional Development
The Trust aims to provide its range of Darwin-Inspired Learning materials online during 2010.
